Daphne Chery

Daphney was born in Fort Demache, the most poverty-stricken area of City of Soleil, Port Au Prince. The conditions of her home were horrific, with sewage and garbage running by her cardboard shack. There was no plumbing or running water available. My mother is a teenager and has a severe injury to her leg, which required orthopedic surgery. In March 2018, her mother gave birth to her brother, Richardson. With food scarce, she began feeding me mud cookies. Both her and her brother were brought to New Life Children’s Home where her mother begged for help! They were both small for their age and were suffering from malnutrition.
